Stay in Touch
Your life stories are important to us as we strive to keep our alumni connected. We hope you have fond memories of your high school experience and would love to hear from you.
Two editions of the Irish Update are produced each year - one in the spring and one in the fall. We aim to ensure you are informed on alumni events, news, and correspondence while keeping you in the loop on current Bishop McNamara happenings. In addition to professional and address changes, please send us awards, honors, marriages, births, or memorial information that you would like reported in the Irish Update.
Bishop McNamara Spirit
Dear Valued Alumni,
Great things are happening with our newest alumni, the Class of 2016, as well as our current students. Take note of these amazing facts:
The graduating class of 2016 qualified for over $7 million in college scholarships and merit based awards.
68% of the class of 2016 graduated with college credits either through AP (advanced placement) classes or dual credit courses in which we have partnered with Kankakee Community College.
20% of our seniors graduated with at least 10 college credits.
Our recent graduates were offered college admission in 24 states. This includes an Ivy League school, 21 Catholic schools, large state institutions and small liberal arts schools.
We have seen a 10% increase in enrollment at the high school level these past 2 years and our retention rate is at 97% up from 87% five years ago.
Enrollment in our fine arts classes is up 90%. We are extremely excited about our "Black Box Theater" that we are establishing beginning this school year.
The 2015-16 student athletes headed to state competition in five sports: Football (Class 3A IHSA State Champions), Cheerleading, Pom/Dance Team, Wrestling (Class 2A IHSA State Champion), Cross Country, and Track & Field.
The newly regionalized, "Bishop McNamara Catholic School" will be bringing together our community to serve grades Pre-K - 12 beginning with this 2016-17 school year. We will have two Pre-K - 6th grade sites (one in Bourbonnais and one in Bradley). Our Kankakee location will be the home of 7th - 12th grades.
We value the generosity, support and kindness that we receive each year from alumni near and far. You have helped us grow into an amazing institution of Catholic education. We ask that you pray for us as we continue to diligently work toward fulfilling our mission.
We welcome you to give us a call or pay us a visit. We would be happy to chat with you or give you a school tour. Please take note of our upcoming alumni events. We would love to have you join in on the fun!
Our students learn about and are proud of the leadership of those that came before them. They realize that they are part of an amazing family... something truly special in our community.
We hope you enjoy the current edition of the Irish Update. This magazine is published each spring and fall. We want to keep you connected to your alma mater, Bishop McNamara.
