Welcome to the School Social Worker's Page

Hi, I am April Heinrich the site-wide School Social Worker for pre-K through 12th grade. I am tremendously excited to be providing social work services because helping people is my passion! I am lucky to be at all three BMCS sites, so I have the chance to interact with all the students and staff!

My family and I are parishioners of Maternity BVM Church and my two boys are in 4th and 7th grade at Bishop McNamara. My family and I enjoy sports, theatre, and just being together!

I attended University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where I received my Bachelors in Psychology. Knowing that I truly wanted to work with children to improve their school experience, I continued on to Loyola University in Chicago where I obtained my Masters in Social Work. I practiced in the public school system in Downers Grove before moving to Kankakee County. Prior to returning to BMCS, I provided social work services to adults, teens, and preschoolers in our community. Additionally, I provided early intervention services and taught parenting education classes. Mental health is an often overlooked aspect of our well being, and I would be happy to help with any aspect large or small that allows the students at BMCS to maximize their educational experience!

GO IRISH!

Students are HAPPY to learn at BMCS!

SPIRIT DAY FRIDAY

Spirit Day is every Friday! Wear your spirit shirts with approved uniform bottom. Also, don't forget to wear your "One" shirts on the first of every month! Go Irish!

PEACEBUILDERS

January's Peacebuilder theme is "Seek Wise People". In their classrooms, students will discuss how their personal behavior can contribute to a peaceful classroom, school, and community. This month, we will be especially focusing on "learning God's truth and seeking saints as role models of faith and wisdom" as well as living what we believe. Be sure to talk to your child about the wonderful things you personally do to build peace at home, at work, and in our community.
