Good Luck to Kevin King and Jonathon Ward!  They both succeeded in the preliminaries and will be competing for medals in the long jump on Saturday at the State Track Meet!  Go Irish!!

 

All members of the boy's and girl's track team must turn in their sweats and uniforms to Mr. Rutter by the end of the week, or they will be charged full price for them.

 

There are a number of service opportunities this summer.

June 6 people are needed to help with Art in the Park 11-3 at Perry Farm or from 12:30-4:30 at the Dance in the Light dance recital to name a couple. Check with Mrs. Bovie for details and other opportunities.

Good luck to Kevin King and Jonathan Ward this weekend.  They will compete in the IHSA State Track and Field meet on Thursday and Saturday.  Kevin won the long jump at the Sectional meet last Thursday, while Jonathan finished 2nd in both the long jump and the high jump.  Congratulations and good luck.

Attention Volleyball Players: Any athlete trying out for the 2015 season- there will be a meeting today after school in Mrs. Valant's room. Please make arrangements to attend.

 

Attention track team:  During your lunch hour today, see Coach Klipp to vote for MVP and pick up information about the Award's night next Wednesday.

 

Thirty-five thousand people ran the Chicago Marathon last fall. They didn't have to.  No one made them do it.  In fact, they each paid over $150 to run 26 miles.  Why would they do that?  Maybe running is cool.  Come find out.  There is a meeting for anyone interested in running

cross-country next fall on Friday at 7:30 AM in Room 14.  Bring a pen or pencil.

AP exam students:  Here's an important reminder. Your AP scores will be available online in July. To get your AP scores, you must sign up for a College Board account at apscore.org. AP scores will only be available online so we encourage you to sign up for your account today.

The Irish Relays are this Saturday.  It is a huge track meet and an opportunity for McNamara to shine.  Anyone willing to help at the event please see Mr. Rutter ASAP.  Lots of jobs are available from timers to pit helpers.  Service hours are available.

Congrats to the members of the track team who won All-City titles last night:  Jacob Quigley in the 3200 meter run, Taylor Prude in the High Jump, and two time winner Jonathan Ward who won both the long jump and the high jump.  Thanks to everyone who helped work the meet or who came out to support the Irish.  The Irish Relays are this Saturday, and we could use some help.  Anyone willing to help at the Relays should see Mr. Rutter ASAP.

 Congrats to our winners at the Herscher Track and Field Invitational on Friday.  Taylor Prude won both the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Kevin King won the Long Jump, placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash, and anchored the winning 400 relay team that included Andrew Buttle, Zach Valant, and Jonathan Ward who finished 2nd in the Long Jump.

Congratulations to the members of the track team on a great performance at the Seneca Invitational on Friday.  The boys placed 5th out of 16 fueled by two first and two second place finishes. Jonathan Ward won the long jump, with teammate Kevin King taking second place.  They both teamed up with Zach Valant and Andrew Buttle to win the 400 meter relay and place 2nd in the 800 meter relay.  Andrew also took 2nd in the triple jump, while Jonathan placed 2nd in the high jump.  In the girl's meet, Taylor Prude placed 2nd in the High Jump and also placed in the triple jump and long jump.

 

The track team is reminded that they have a meet at Manteno tonight.  The bus will leave right after school.

Congratulations to the members of the Irish track team who placed first last night in the triangular meet with Coal City and Clifton Central.  The Irish boys won seven events, led by Jonathan Ward who was part of four firsts.  Jonathan won the high jump and long jump, and was also a member of the 400 and 800 meter relays that finished first.  Other members of the relay teams were Zach Valant, Andrew Buttle, and Kevin King.  Ethan Powers won the 3200.  David Osborne won the shotput, and the 3200 meter relay team of Jacob Quigley, Dante Owens-Graves, Cameron Poortinga, and Jack Stam also placed first.  In the girl's meet, Taylor Prude won the high jump and triple jump.

Saturday is the BMCHS Band 4th Annual Craft fair from 9am-3pm in the Mac gymnasium.  Come see all our wonderful vendors!  We will have everything from woodworking, to cupcakes, to jewelry!  The Mac Jazz will be performing at 11 am in the gym balcony, and the Vocal Ambassadors will be performing at 1pm.  Come support your fellow students in the biggest Band fundraiser of the year!

Special Congratulations go to Jack Wang who placed 3rd in Mathematics and advance to the State Competition to take place in April! Congratulations to the Varsity Scholastic Bowl Team. Although the team was eliminated in sectional play on Saturday, the team ends with a super record of 27 wins with only 16 losses.  Congratulations also to Matt Rose and team captain Kevin Kramer who were both named for All-Sectional Honors for their season.

 

Congratulations to the members of the girl's track team who placed at the 9-team Reed-Custer Invitational on Saturday.  Taylor Prude placed 2nd in Long Jump and 3rd in both the Triple Jump and High Jump.  Carolina Quintero placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run.  Taylor Valant, Regan Trevino, Kate Messenbring, and Kaylee Surprenant placed 5th in the 800 Relay, while Taylor Valant also placed 5th in the Triple Jump.

Lady Irish Basketball State Game Information:  Game:  6:30 Friday, February 27, 2014 vs. Bloomington Central Catholic at Redbird Arena on the campus of Illinois State University.  Ticket Sales Information:  Tickets for Friday night’s game against Bloomington Central Catholic will go on sale now!  The cost of all tickets as set by the IHSA is $10.00.  All tickets are general admission tickets.  Tickets will be sold in the main office until 10:00 am Thursday!

 

A group of McNamara art students will be included in the annual ART 4 HEART show on Thursday night. The event is sponsored by Riverside Medical Center and promotes the journey to heart health through the eyes of local high school artists. You are invited to attend the reception and awards presentation Thursday night from 5-7pm at the Majestic Theater in Kankakee. Admission is free and there will be snacks, music and an awards presentation.

Congratulations to the Varsity Scholastic Bowl Team in their repeat first place finish at KCC's annual Match Points Tournament on Friday.  The team consisting of Jack Kramer, Maddie Rosendahl, Kayla Ronchetto, Dalton Pachorek, Andrew Buttle, Matt Rose, and team captain Kevin Kramer, combined in wins over Grant Park, Herscher, and Kankakee High School.  In the championship match against Kankakee, Kevin Kramer answered 12 questions correctly on his own.

 

Congratulations to our Wrestlers who competed at State this weekend:  Kyle Betourne placed 2nd at 170 pounds and Zach Lorek place 3rd at 145 pounds.  We are proud of you!

CONGRATULATIONS to Coach John Rutter and the Lady Irish Basketball team on their Sectional Championship last night. Their victory puts the Lady Irish in the Super Sectional game against Havana at Monmouth College on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.

 

Super-Sectional game will be played on Monday, February 23rd at 7pm.  A fan bus will be leaving promptly at 2:45 pm from the McNamara parking lot.  Students should plan on returning to McNamara around midnight.  To reserve your seat, sign up and buy your ticket at lunches Friday and Monday.  The cost is $10.  This covers your ticket to the game and the bus fare.  Money is required at time of purchase.  You need to get your ticket before 5th hour on Monday, no exceptions.  Come cheer on your team!

 

Service Hour Opportunity:  Bourbonnais Park District Family Fun Fair is looking for student volunteers to help with a variety of carnival style games.  It is February 27 from 6:30-8 at the Recreation Station.  If you are interested please contact Mrs. Bovie.

  3. Super big Congrats to our Wrestlers going to State this weekend!!  Mason Sauseda earned a 1st, Hunter Voigt earned a 2nd, Zach Lorek earned a 1st and Kyle Betourne earned a 1st!!  Way to go Irish and best of luck at State!!

  7. Regular practice for the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team will be held Wednesday this week.  All players should check for participation on Friday at KCC, and should sign up if they can compete at the Masonic Tournament on Saturday.

It's Mardi Gras, so it's time to celebrate before the serious season of Lent.  You can show your Mardi Gras, or just plain Bishop McNamara spirit today, by wearing colorful, authentic New Orleans Mardi  Gras beads, available from a French student at lunch, or in the French Room between classes.  Necklaces for 25 cents each are available in six gorgeous colors.
  9. And back by popular demand this year for today only is the dessert crepe sale.  Crepes, a traditional French snack are $1. 00 each, and this year will be served with your choice of strawberry or Nutella filling.  Try one during lunch hour today, and remember, the Nutella may go fast.
  10.  And finally, it's also time for the French secret word game, and everyone is in on it, starting right now.  There is a secret word posted for every hour; just check the signs posted in the halls.   If you' re the first one to say the word to the right person during the right hour, you will win a prize.   The person may be a student, administrator, or a teacher.  The first secret word is "enchante"  (pronounced "on shahn tay").  Say enchante to the right person, and you will win the prize.  Ready, set, go!

Congratulations to Coach John Rutter and the Lady Irish on their 74-39 victory over Beecher last night in the IHSA Regional Championship game. The victory puts the Lady Irish in the IHSA Sectional on Monday night against Stillman Valley at Spring Valley Hall - game time is 7:00 p.m. Best of luck to Coach Rutter and the Lady Irish!

  • Congratulations to the Irish Wrestlers on their performance at the Hawk Classic on Saturday, January 10th!  Mason Sauseda brought home a 1st in 113 pounds, Hunter Voigt a 3rd at 120 pounds, Anthony Wicker a 2nd at 126 pounds, Zach Lorek a 1st at 145 pounds and Kyle Betourne a  1st at 170 pounds!  Kyle was also awarded Outstanding Wrestler.  The wrestlers will compete this weekend at the Mahomet-Seymour Marty Williams Invitational this Saturday.  Go Irish!!

Congratulations to the Irish Scholastic Bowl Team on their performance in the Turnabout Tournament in Bloomington on Saturday. Regular Varsity team players Matt Rose, Keven Kramer, Kayla Ronchetto, and Rachel Peterson, along with freshman Jack Kramer, who competed with Varsity for the first time, combined their knowledge and skills in 8 matches. The team racked up 6 wins for the good guys, with only 2 losses. Team captain Kevin Kramer answered 37 toss-up questions correctly, 10 of them for extra "power" points, and Mrs. Linneman hopes that Jack Kramer will keep watching those documentaries.

 

Regular practice for all members of JV and Varsity Scholastic Bowl teams will be held Monday and Wednesday this week.

  1.  There will be a quick meeting today after school, in campus ministry for all senior boys who went on Kairos last year.
  2. If you are a junior interested in doing the morning prayer, pledge, and announcements one day each week, please contact Mrs. Bovie today
  3. Cinderella! Auditions for the spring musical are tomorrow night at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. If you missed the pre-audition meeting in December, there is a meeting today in Señora Ronchetto’s classroom (room 112) immediately after school. Señora will explain the audition process, distribute audition packets and scripts, and answer any questions that you have about joining our theatre program. Every McNamara student is allowed and encouraged to audition. 
  4. Regular practice for Scholastic Bowl will be held Monday and Wednesday this week.  In addition, Varsity players are reminded to sign up to compete this coming Saturday at the Turnabout Tournament in Bloomington.  See Mrs. Linneman for details.
  5. Please remember to have your child(ren) turn in any sold Ceile calendars when they return to school. As the Ceile calendar sale is also a "daily raffle" to all of the purchasers, we want to ensure all names are turned in prior to our biggest daily drawing of the year which is the $5,000 New  Year's drawing. We will draw this name on Wednesday, January 7th so please have all calendars turned in by the 6th!

Attention Senior Students:  There seems to be some confusion on the cost of transcripts. So we will reiterate the announcements that were read earlier in the year.  A reminder in regards to our transcript procedures.  Transcripts sent via Common Ap and EDU are at no cost to you, only certain colleges accept this type of format.  The transcripts that the Guidance Office mails out have a $2.00 charge after the first one, which is free.  Any questions please see Mrs. McThenia or Mrs. Nugent.

Senior Students:  Don't forget to check out the scholarship opportunities on our website.  These can be found by going under Academics and viewing the Guidance section of this particular page.  We have posted many valuable links as well as specific scholarships.  Most are to be completed on-line, but there are still a few that are available as hard copies in the Guidance Office.
