Class of 2016: Josten’s Announcement Delivery is changed to after March 26th.

 

OUR VERY FIRST "TTC" TOURNAMENT WILL BE THIS WED. AND THURS. IN THE LIBRARY FROM 3-5pm. THE DAILY JOURNAL WILL ALSO BE THERE TO COVER THIS SPECTACULAR 1st TIME EVER EVENT! Players were seeded for the TTC tournament last Thursday. In Flight A we have seeded in 1st-4th place James Hu, Mike Kurzejka, Sam Oconnor and Jack Wang. In Flight B we have seeded 1st-4th place Caroline Peddinghaus, Matt Krupowicz, Karina Toledo and Manny Esparza. The TTC Tournament Brackets are posted outside Mrs. Franco's room (Rm.# C1). Also to ALL of you that purchased a TTC t-shirt or hoodie you can wear it this Wed. and Thurs. of this week with your uniform pants. GO IRISH! GO IRISH KILLER SPIN KREW!! GO TTC!!

Are you a Trivia Buff? Are your friends always telling you that you have all the answers?  Are you competitive?  Are you none of the above but are just interested in having a fun low cost evening out?  Come join us for the 4th annual ABC Trivia Night will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 7:00 pm in the Mac Cafe.  Get your table of 10 for $250.00 of $25.00 each and we help you complete your table.  RSVPs are due Friday, February 12.  Everyone is welcome!!

 

Does giving blood scare you? If so, you can still help out. In one month, the annual Red Cross Blood Drive will be held here at McNamara. Would you like to be the student chairperson of this blood drive? Or, would you like to be a member of the committee? Please see Mrs. McThenia or Mr. Kennedy in the Guidance Office if you're interested.

 

Will you take the keys to school and run with responsibility? Student Leadership Applications are now available in the Main Office.

 

There will be a mandatory newspaper meeting this Wednesday in room 18 immediately after school. All members must attend.

 

It's Mardi Gras, so it's time to celebrate before the serious season of Lent. You can show your Mardi Gras spirit by wearing authentic colorful beads from New Orleans.  Necklaces will be available from French students Tuesday at lunch or from the French Room both days.  Necklaces are just 25 cents each, and are available in six gorgeous colors that you can mix and match.

 

It's round #2 of the election process and it's now "Live Free or Die!" New Hampshire's turn to chime in on who should be the Republican or Democratic nominee for President. Therefore, it's time for round #2 of Pizza & Politics. Come join us for the results watch on Tuesday night at 7pm. Meet in Mr. Rutter's office.

The Varsity Team will have regular practice Monday and Thursday this week. Also, Mrs. Linneman's film series resumes tomorrow Tuesday, with the first part of Spike Lee's critically acclaimed film, Malcolm X.  The film starring Denzel Washington as Malcolm X, shows important stages of the Civil Rights movement, including Malcolm's conversion to non-violence at the end of his life.  The film begins at 2:45 in the French Room, and the first part will not go past 4:00.

 Attention all students: TONIGHT is the boys basketball senior night home game. Come to the game and stay for the fun. The Theme for tonight’s game is pajamas/comfy clothes. All students, boy and girl, must wear long pants and dress appropriately. The movie Ferris Buhler's Day off will be playing right after the game. ONLY BISHOP MCNAMARA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED. There is no fee, however the concessions stands will remain open.

We hope to see a big crowd to support our basketball team. (Good luck to those taking the ACT)

Schedule for today is 1,2,3,6,4,5,7,8, and then the special assembly led by our Student Council.

 

Congratulations to our WYSE team for a job well done on Tuesday. A special congratulation to Jack Wang and Jacob Quigley for earning medals! Jack earned first place in both Mathematics and Physics! Jacob earned second place in Mathematics! Both young men will go on to compete at the sectional competition!!!

To ALL "TTC" members....just a friendly reminder we will only be meeting on Thursday of this week. Attendance tomorrow is important because we will be deciding placement for the "TTC" tournament that is taking place next week. Challenge Board Placement.... Flight "A" 1st - 8th place will be playing in the "TTC" tournament next Wed.  3:00-5:00 pm and Flight "B" 9th - 16th place will play next Thurs. 3:00-5:00 pm. Both will be held in the Library. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place TTC Winners at both flights. Everyone is welcome to come and cheer all of the "TTC" players on!! GO IRISH! GO TTC!!

 

Shout out to the Varsity and JV Scholastic Bowl Team. Both levels won 2 and lost 1 match last night.  Keep it up Irish!

Coach Mason and Coach Breault will be in the lunch hours today to sign up those interested in participating in track and field. Even if you are currently in a winter sport, you should sign up now so that we can reserve a uniform and sweat clothes for you.

 

All Scholastic Bowl Team members expecting to compete in the league tournament tomorrow at Brother Rice should sign up with their coach by today. Regular team practice will be held today after school, and Thursday for the Varsity Team.

TTC" will only be meeting THURSDAY this week due to a faculty meetings and phonathons taking place in the Library. Attendance is very important! We will be setting up the placement for the tournament this Thursday based on Challenge Board placement. The TOP 16 PLACES on the Challenge board will be in the 2 day tournament. So far this week the leading "TTC" members on the challenge board are in 1st place James Hu holding on strong and we have in 2nd place showing off his paddle power Mike Kurzejka and then in 3rd place we have Sam Oconnor also holding on strong!! Please congratulate these TTC members when you see them. We will be hosting our VERY 1st "TTC" TOURNAMENT next week Feb. 10th and 11th 3-5 in the Library!! Everyone is welcome to come and cheer them all on! Everyone can wear their TTC shirts both days to school with uniform pants! GO IRISH!! GO TTC!!

WEAR GREEN! -Kyle Betourne is currently ranked 9th in the nation, 1st in State, and will potentially break the school record for technical falls on Wednesday January 27th.

The Kankakee Community College Career Pathway Options (previously Undecided Senior Day) is an opportunity to learn about all the two-year career and technical education degree programs offered at KCC. It will be held Friday, Feb. 5th on the Kankakee Community College campus for ALL high school seniors that are undecided on their college plans. This event is NOT for students that are planning to enroll in a four-year transfer program. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Nugent in the Guidance Office. Permission slips will be available in the Guidance Office.

  • On Wednesday, January 27th at 5 PM "PACK MAC" to capacity in support of your Senior Wrestlers. Seniors Kyle Betourne, David Osborn, Cor'Ron Smith, and Josh Stark will be wrestling their last home matches against BBCHS and Manteno HS. WEAR GREEN!

-Kyle Betourne is currently ranked 9th in the nation, 1st in State, and will potentially break the school record for technical falls on Wednesday January 27th.

  • Varsity Scholastic Bowl players need to remember that practice will be held today (not Thursday) this week.
  • Sophomore and Junior students interested in enrolling in one of the many programs at the Kankakee Career Center next year please see Mrs. McThenia in the Guidance Office as soon as possible.
  • The Kankakee Community College Career Pathway Options (previously Undecided Senior Day) is an opportunity to learn about all the two-year career and technical education degree programs offered at KCC. It will be held Friday, Feb. 5th on the Kankakee Community College campus for ALL high school seniors that are undecided on their college plans. This event is NOT for students that are planning to enroll in a four-year transfer program. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Nugent in the Guidance Office. Permission slips will be available in the Guidance Office.
  • Kairos is March 8-11. Registration is now open for juniors boys.  Please pick up a registration form in Campus Ministry.
  • The Newspaper and Explore the World clubs will meet in Ms. Guzman's room after school on Thursday. Please let Ms. Sullivan or Ms. Guzman know if you are unable to attend.
  • Do you like to sing or dance or act? You are invited and encouraged to audition for this year’s spring musical production of Honk!, the story of the Ugly Duckling. Auditions will be in two weeks! If you missed last week’s pre-audition meeting, there is another one today in Mrs. Ronchetto’s classroom (room 112) immediately after school. She will explain the audition process, distribute audition packets, check out scripts, and answer any questions that you have about joining our theatre program. Every McNamara student is allowed and encouraged to audition.
  • TTC" SHIRT ORDERS ARE BEING PLACED FRIDAY. So be sure to get your "TTC" shirt order into Mrs. Franco by Friday. "TTC" will be meeting today and tomorrow 3:00-4:30 in the Library. The Challenge Board will dictate paddle placement for the upcoming tournament. Our tournament will be held Feb. 10th and 11th and ALL those that bought a "TTC" shirt may wear it to school on both of those days! GO IRISH! GO "TTC"!!

  • Students (especially seniors) from this point forward it is going to be extremely busy in the Guidance Office. Please check your e-mails daily and check them often. This is how the Guidance Office will be communicating important information to you in regards to graduation and various deadlines that will be approaching.
  • Attention all students enrolled in a course with dual credit option...If you have the qualifying score on either ACT or COMPASS, your teacher has given you a two page registration form for KCC. Please return BOTH those pages (with the proper signatures) to your teacher by Friday Jan 15. These forms are for college enrollment and MUST be completed in ink. Forms submitted in pencil will be returned to you. Failure to return the form in to your teacher on/before Friday Jan 15 with proper signature will disqualify you for dual credit. Please note that KCC sets the qualifying scores on ACT or COMPASS. If you took the December ACT and have a qualifying score and are not listed on your teacher's roster of qualifiers, please show Mrs. Nugent your most recent electronic score report. If you do not have the qualifying score for your course, you are not eligible for dual credit. All students in College Study Skills are required to take the dual credit options. There are no qualifying scores for that class. Thank you.
  • Tomorrow is the last day to request a schedule change.
  • If you helped at the canned food packing this past semester and you would like to receive Christian service hours, the form is DUE TOMORROW.
