Dr. James & Betsy Kennedy
Dr. Jim and Betsy Kennedy and their family moved to Kankakee in 1967. Over the course of fifteen years each of their eleven children attended Bishop McNamara High School. During that time Jim and Betsy were members of virtually every board and committee at McNamara. Betsy was part of the leadership team that created the very successful Madcaps, and the Annual Auction that continues today. Jim is a respected surgeon and teacher and has served as Chief of Surgery at both St. Mary’s and Riverside Hospitals. In 1993 Jim received the Teacher of the Year award from Loyola University in Chicago where he taught anatomy. Most importantly, Jim and Betsy have passed on their spirit of community service and Christian excellence to their children. They have made a lasting impact on our school. Jim and Betsy live in Michigan City, Indiana. Their children are James, Jack ‘80, Mary ‘81, Kathleen, Elizabeth ‘84, Molly ‘85, Michael, David, Sarah, Patrick ‘90 and Timothy ‘90.
