Becoming a good reader requires a lot of practice. It does not, however, have to be thought of as "work". Rather, reading should be enjoyable. Please try to have your child read everyday.

Once again, we are fortunate to have Lexia Reading Core5 licenses for our K-1st graders. Older students who need a little more practice with specific reading skills will also use this research based, individualized, computer program. After taking a placement test, students work independently at their level. Immediate feedback and instruction (if needed) are given to the students as they go through activities in the six areas of literacy skills: phonological awareness, phonics, structural analysis, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Depending on their individual skill level, students are given a personal "time goal" to meet each week. Although they will have time to work on Lexia at school, some students may also need to work on Lexia at home on a computer or tablet in order to meet this goal. You will need to set up your home computer one time by entering the teacher's email address. You may also need to download and install one of these supported browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge. To use on a tablet, download the free Lexia Core5 Reading app. Your child should already know the username and password.
