Daily Announcements

Course Selection – Course selection sheets are due to the Guidance Office today.  Please make sure you have all your signatures and turn that in ASAP.  If you have lost your form come to the Main Office immediately to get another copy. 

Annie - Don’t miss Annie Jr presented by the Bishop McNamara theatre department March 24 at 7pm and March 25th at 2 and 7 pm.  Tickets can be purchased at the door.  Also, House Points will be given for any student who attends. 

Tuesday – Next Tuesday is a testing day for High School Students.  Senior have no school, Freshman thru Juniors have mandatory testing.   If you are absent that day you must have a Dr note.  Note exceptions.  There will be an early dismissal at approximately 11:30 after the testing.

Mass Day – High School students have a Mass Day today.  We will be on a Mass Day schedule, with no homeroom.  Teachers please make sure male students have a tie on today.

Coffee Shop – The Coffee Shop is open today.

College Visit/Vacation – If you are going on a College Visit or vacation and will be missing school, stop by the Main Office to get a request form.  You will have your parent, Mr. Kelly and teachers sign.

Sign Out Sheet in Main Office – Students if you are leaving early from school or coming in late, you ALWAYS need to sign in or out, in the Main Office.  No exceptions.   Also, passes to leave in the middle of the day need to be picked up first thing in the morning or at lunch.  We should not have to deliver passes to you during class time. 

Discussion - Please join us today for the Nourishing Greatness Bible discussions group during each lunch period in the CMO. Together we will pray and discuss various Bible topics that will help you develop stronger relationships with God and others as you live your faith. Hope to see you there!

Catholic Ministry Office:  Wednesday mornings at 7:00am in the chapel there is an informal intentional prayer group that meets to pray for our school.  We pray for our students, our faculty and the administration.  We pray for Catholic education, the 100 Anniversary Project, and the spiritual life of the Bishop McNamara Family.   You are invited to join us.  Mass follows at 7:15am with Fr. John. Horan.  

Catholic Ministry Office Prayer Requests: Remember to place your prayer requests in the Hallway prayer boxes.  Our prayer team is ready to pray for you. 

Tutoring - After-school tutoring is now available for any High School Student seeking help in English and/or completing homework in any subject. Tutoring services will be held in Room 104 and open from 2:40-3:45 pm.

Today – Today is an early dismissal for High School and Junior High at 12:00.  There is no extended day. 

Service – We are hosting the Junior High Volleyball State Tournament and are in need of help for the concession stand.   If you can help please reach out to Tonya O’Connor 815-671-6729.  Dates needed are March 17 4:00 to 8:30 and March 18 10:00 -1:30 and 1:30 – 4:30. This will be a fun, easy way to get your service hours in.

Tomorrow – Tomorrow is an early dismissal for High School and Junior High at 12:00.  There is no extended day.

Sign Out Sheet in Main Office – Students if you are leaving early from school or coming in late, you ALWAYS need to sign in or out, in the Main Office.  No exceptions.   Also, passes to leave in the middle of the day need to be picked up first thing in the morning or at lunch.  We should not have to deliver passes to you during class time.

Schedule – High School will be on a revised schedule today for Mass and NHS Ceremony.  Schedule will be 1st thru 6th, with no homeroom.  There will be no 7th and 8th hours today.  With that being said, any High School student who has to leave early for an appointment today will need a Dr’s note when they return tomorrow.   Notes will need to be turned into Mr Kelly’s office first thing in the morning.  

JH Art - The Junior High Art Club will be painting the windows in the circle for Spring after school tomorrow, Thursday, from 3:00-4:30 pm. Come to the art room after school. Be sure to bring clothes to paint in.

Counseling Club - Counseling Club will meet this Thursday, March 16th in the library. All are welcome and we will have treats.

Drivers ED – Any student who is interested in taking Summer School Driver Ed at Kankakee High School, there is an information sheet in the Main Office.  Informational meeting will be held tomorrow, March 14 in the cafeteria.  You must bring payment and have formed signed by the office prior to signing up.

Jostens – Seniors Jostens will be here today during 5th and 6th hour lunches to distribute graduation items that you purchased.  IF you have 4th hour lunch please see Mrs Demack for a pass.

Wrestling - Elio Gil placed 3rd in state at 95 lbs. He only had 2 losses this season. Tristin Golden placed 1st in state at 135lbs. He was 18-0 on the season and defeated an opponent with a record of 41-0.  Our team placed 17th out 72 teams in the state tournament. This is the first year of the program.

Volleyball  – Good luck to the 7th Grade Girls Volleyball team who start the State Tournament on tonight.  Congrats to the 8th Grade team who won the Regional last night.  They begin Sectional play on Monday night in Gardner.

Out of Uniform – This Monday 3/13/23 will be an Out of Uniform Day with a minimum $2 donation to support the Irish Fund. 

Spanish NHS – Congratulations to the new officers of the Spanish National Honors Society, Spanish President : Nik Acevedo, English President : Ronneigh Turro, Spanish Secretary :  Sarah Berg, English Secretary :  Nick Andrews, Dual Language Reader :  Carter Levesque.

High School Service - Irish Fund: Week of Giving Volunteers needed! This year, Bishop McNamara is planning a week of giving to support Bishop McNamara Catholic School. We need High School student volunteers on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 5-8:30 pm.  This is a fun evening connecting with our most generous alumni, families, and friends of BMCS! If you are available to give your time to the Irish Fund phonathon stop in the Advancement Office to sign up.

Drivers ED – Any student who is interested in taking Summer School Driver Ed at Kankakee High School, there is an information sheet in the Main Office.  Informational meeting will be held on March 14 in the cafeteria.

College Visit/Vacation – If you are going on a College Visit or vacation and will be missing school, stop by the Main Office to get a request form.  You will have your parent, Mr. Kelly and teachers sign.

Sign Out Sheet in Main Office – Students if you are leaving early from school or coming in late, you ALWAYS need to sign in or out, in the Main Office.  No exceptions.   Also, passes to leave in the middle of the day need to be picked up first thing in the morning or at lunch.  We should not have to deliver passes to you during class time. 

Prefect - Prefect Applications are now available for the 23-24 school year.  You can get one online, or from Mrs. Demack.  They are due back Tuesday, March 7th to Ms. Akerman.

Jr High Chess – There will be Junior High Chess today after school in room 102.

High School Service - Irish Fund: Week of Giving Volunteers needed! This year, Bishop McNamara is planning a week of giving to support Bishop McNamara Catholic School. We need High School student volunteers on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 5-8:30 pm.  This is a fun evening connecting with our most generous alumni, families, and friends of BMCS! If you are available to give your time to the Irish Fund phonathon stop in the Advancement Office to sign up.

Catholic Ministry Office:  Consider joining us during Lent!   Wednesday mornings at 7:00am in the chapel at the high school, there is an informal intentional prayer group that meets to pray for our school.  We pray for our students, our faculty and the administration.  We pray for Catholic education, the 100 Anniversary Project, and the spiritual life of the Bishop McNamara Family.   You are invited to join us.  Mass follows at 7:15am with Fr. John. Horan.  

Catholic Ministry Office Prayer Requests: Remember to place your prayer requests in the Hallway prayer boxes.  Our prayer team is ready to pray for you.

Seniors - Attention senior students, if you have not already done so, please let Mrs. McThenia know your shirt size.  The Bishop McNamara Alumni Board gifts each senior grad with their first alumni shirt.

Baseball Jerseys – Mrs Akerman will be selling old Baseball jerseys in her office.  The cost will be anywhere from $5 to $10 dollars until they are gone.

Winterball – Winterball Court please report outside the Holy Grounds Café for a picture today at 2:25. Guest request forms if you are bringing a guest from another school are due today.  Please bring to the Main Office before the end of the day. 

Counseling Club -Counseling club will meet today after school in the library! Everyone is welcome and snacks will be served.

Mass – All students have Mass today.  We will be on a Mass Day schedule with no homeroom.
