Daily Announcements

Dress Code – Attention high school and JR high students. This Friday will mark the end of our relax dress code. Beginning on Monday, October 2nd all students both high school and jr high will be expected to wear regular uniform attire. We would refer all students to the Student Handbook for what regular uniform attire means. If you have questions, please speak to any administrator in the building. Simply put -- no more shorts are to be worn, all students must have the appropriate shirt with Bishop McNamara "M" logo.  High school students you must wear the appropriate shoes - no more sandals, crocs, running/basketball shoe etc. Jr high students you are not allowed to wear crocs or sandals as of Monday. 

High School Students have Mass tomorrow.  Boys will need to be in shirt and tie. 

Yearbook – High School Students orders are being accepted for 2023-2024 yearbooks, please order on the Jostens website.  If you order by 9/22/23 there is a $10 DISCOUNT.   Last year’s yearbooks will be in sometime late October.   Junior High you order yearbooks at the end of the year in the Spring.

Lost and Found – Lost and Found in the cafeteria is over flowing.  All items will be donated this tomorrow. 

Sophomores - Attention sophomore students that are planning to go to Sophomore Day at the Career Center on October 12th:  Mrs. McThenia sent you a link to complete the registration process. This must be done by today or you will not be able to attend.

Kankakee Community College is hosting their College Fair tonight from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. There will be approximately 70 colleges attending. If you want to know if a specific college will be in attendance, stop by and see Mrs. McThenia in the Guidance Office for a complete list.

Prayer Group/Mass - On Wednesday mornings at 7:00am in the chapel, there is an informal intentional prayer group that meets to pray for our school.  We pray for our students, our faculty and the administration.  We pray for Catholic education, prayer requests left if our prayer box, and the spiritual life of the Bishop McNamara Family.  All students and faculty are invited to join us.  Mass follows at 7:15am with Fr. John. Horan.

One Shirt – The Online Shop for ordering more One Shirts closes today.  If you need the link to place an order, please email Mrs Demack.

College Visit Attention junior and senior students, Colleges visiting Bishop McNamara this week are as follows: Ball State will be set up in the cafeteria today, please stop by and see what they have to offer. Bradley University will be here tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. in the Celtic Knot, you will need a pass from Mrs. McThenia to attend. University of St. Francis will also be here tomorrow in the Celtic Knot; they will be set up at 1:30 p.m. You will need a pass from Mrs. McThenia to attend this as well.

College Fair - The College Fair at Kankakee Community College is tomorrow! This is free and open to our community. There are currently 60+ colleges attending. It is a Strive Scan fair. Students can sign up at  https://app.strivescan.com/students and select Kankakee Community College. Be careful not to select the transfer fair on the same date. 

Lost and Found – Lost and Found in the cafeteria is over flowing.  All items will be donated Thursday. 

Dress Code – Reminder next Monday we return to regular Dress Code.  No more shorts and sandals allowed.

Picture Retakes– Picture Retakes are today.  You must turn in a packet to have a retake done.  No retakes, if you did not order pictures.  Also students who were absent on Picture Day or new students will have their pictures taken Thursday as well.  If you did not order a packet but want to see what picture will be in the yearbook, you can see the picture in your Facts Profile.  We will call you down by grade. 

Jostens – Jostens will be here today to take Senior and Sophomore orders.  Sophomores reminder there is the Early Bird Discount for ordering early.  Seniors everyone needs to order online for your Cap and Gown.  This is already paid for through your fees, however, you need to order your size. 

One Shirt – The Online Shop for ordering more One Shirts is open and will close Monday.  If you need the link to place an order, please email Mrs Demack.

Freshman Locks - Freshman you will be getting your locks for your lockers today in religion.  One should be used for your hallway locker and the other for PE.  Do not lose the combinations, please make sure you put them in a safe place.  Any other student needing to replace a lock, those will be available in a week or 2.

Dungeons and Dragons - High school students: If you have an interest in creating an adventure of your own, and building a character for fame and glory, come join the Dungeons and Dragons Club. We will meet this coming Tuesday, August 29, from 3-5 p.m. in the Art Room. You do not need to have prior knowledge of the game; we will teach you. For more information, see Ms. Gocken.

Musical - Are you interested in theater? Please be our Guest, put your acting to the test, and try out for this year's fall musical Beauty and the Beast! Auditions are next Monday and Tuesday, August 28th- 29th in the BlackBox Theatre and they are open to all students. Visit bishopmac.com to sign up for an audition time slot.

Parking Pass – If you are still need to purchase a Parking Pass, that can be done in the Main Office or on the Facts Portal.  Parking lot checks will be done next Monday, August 28th

Homecoming Shirts – High School Students you should all have an email on how to order Homecoming shirts.   Freshman your shirt has already been ordered. There is nothing you need to do.  Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors, you will need to order and pay for your shirt.  All orders need to be placed by end of day THIS Monday. 

Homecoming – The Homecoming Schedule for HS has been posted on Irish Hub.  Monday is Mass Day, Tuesday Barbie and Ken, Wednesday Western, Thursday Games Day, Friday Extreme Spirit.  Junior High your schedule will be available soon.

Schedue Changes – Any schedule changes need to be taken care of after school, please see Mrs Malm in the Main Office for any schedule issues.

Schedule – Today is a Mass Day and we will be on a Mass Day Schedule.  We also have Picture Day.  Students will be called down to the cafeteria by grade and name.  Seniors last name A thru M, please go to get your picture taken immediately after announcements.  Make sure you remember your picture packet order form even if you are not ordering pictures. 

Journalism - Attention all students in JOURNALISM class:  There will be a meeting in Ms. Akerman's office tomorrow right after school.  If you are unable to attend, please let Ms. Akerman know.

Mass – We will have an all school Mass today and will be on a Mass Day Schedule. 

8th Grade – Tomorrow 8th Graders have their Appreciation Day.  8th Grade only can be out of uniform. 

Finals – High School Students, please make sure you are aware of your Finals schedule.  Schedule is posted outside the Main Office or can be found on the Bishop Mac website.  Do not be late!!

Lost and Found – Last call for Lost and Found.   All items will be donated on Friday.  There are eye glasses in the Main Office, otherwise everything is in the cafeteria. 

Medicine – If you have medicine or Epi Pens in the Nurses Office, please pick up on Friday morning.  Anything not picked up will be thrown away.

Relay for Life - Relay for Life is again being held at McNamara on Saturday, June 10.  We are looking for help on Friday, June 9 and also Saturday, June 10.  There are many opportunities. See Michelle Barrie to sign up to help and have fun.

Coffee Shop – The Coffee Shop will be open tomorrow instead of Thursday this week.

Coffee Shop – The Coffee Shop is open today.  They will also be open next week on Wednesday only.  Also, any current 7th graders interested in working in the Coffee Shop next year, please stop in and talk to Mrs Ortman after lunch today.   

Out of Uniform – Tomorrow will be an out of uniform day that will help the Beedle Family - the family we helped last year with the Advent and Lenten campaign.  The 2 little girls have Battens Disease which is an incurable genetic disease.  Annabelle, the six-year-old, just recently went thru life threatening liver failure.  The family continues to travel to Lurie Childrens Hospital weekly for brain infusions for both girls.  The starting point for out of uniform is $2 - please be as generous as you can.  Seniors -- this is the family you met at the Sophomore retreat last year - I know you are out of uniform but please help us to help this family

Lunch – There is no more charging in the cafeteria, all charges must be paid by tomorrow.

Early Dismissal – High School Students have an early dismissal today at 1:15. Seniors have Senior Recognition.  Schedule will be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th, 5th, 6th and 4th.  It is posted on the bulletin board outside of the Main Office. 

Charges - Seniors the LAST day to charge lunch is today, Thursday May 11. No exceptions.

Schedule will be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 6th and 8th.    Anyone leaving early will need a parent to call in, appointments will need to have a Dr note brought in for it to be an excused absence.  This is a mandatory event.

Tech and Theatre Class - Are you wanting to be more involved in the fine arts, stage production, and theater tech? Then we encourage you to join us for the Technology & Theater Productions Class upstairs in the black box theatre today, May 10th! All 7th- 12th graders who wish to participate are welcome, especially those who want to be involved next year! The class will be held from 2:40 to 3:30, bring a pencil and notebook to jot down anything you think would be important to know.

There is AP Testing today.  Bells will be turned off until 12:00pm.  Please try and be extra quiet in the hallways this morning.

House Games -  High School Students can sign up for Wednesday's Spring House games today and tomorrow during lunches.  We will be on a revised schedule that day.  Anyone leaving early will need a parent to call in, appointments will need to have a Dr note brought in for it to be an excused absence.  This is a mandatory event.

Teen Conference - Are you wondering what God’s purpose is in your life? Join us for the Refuge retreat July 28-30th at the University of St. Paul, Minnesota. Refuge is a teen conference where you along with other teens from our diocese will encounter God’s love through awesome speakers, praise and worship, and the sacraments. Come to be inspired and empowered in your faith and make some great new friends along the way! Space is limited and registration is due by this Friday, May 5. See Father John, Mr. Malicki, or Mrs. Bassett for more details. Scholarships are available.

Service Opportuntiy - Opportunity to get Service hours and have fun -- Catholic Charities 5K run at KCC on Saturday, May 20 needs help -- see Michelle Barrie in the CMO.

Mass – As a heads up, next Tuesday is an all school Mass.  High School Boys need to be in shirt and tie.  Seniors must be in regular school uniform. 

Schedule – Junior High has an early dismissal today at 12:00 no extended day.  High School Students reminder that you will need a Dr’s note if you are leaving early today for the absence to be excused.  High School band students please report to cafeteria again today.
