Volunteer Breakfast – Friday, April 28 at 8am. Please join us! We will be showing our appreciation to our volunteers at our Volunteer Breakfast. Anyone who has volunteered in any way this school year is encouraged to attend. Our students look forward to thanking you for all you do! Bishop McNamara Progressive Raffle – OUT-OF-UNIFORM INCENTIVE: The fourth and final Bishop McNamara Progressive Raffle drawing will take place on May 4…and it’s the biggest payout yet! We still need your help to reach our total ticket sales goal before May 4. As an effort to reach our final goal, a new sales incentive has been announced! All school families who sell and turn in an additional Progressive Raffle ticket between April 17-April 25 will earn an out-of-uniform day for all students in their household. Online sales count, too! Please see the enclosed flyer for more details.

 

Story Tots THIS WEEK: Join us THIS Thursday at 10am (BMCS Bradley Site) and/or Friday at 10:30am (BMCS Bourbonnais Site) for stories and fun for children ages 2-5 with their parents or grandparents. Younger siblings are welcome to come along for the fun, too! Story Tots is open to the public, there is no fee to attend, and no need to pre-register.

 

Mac PAC Monical’s Fundraiser: Join us on Tuesday, April 24 for a Mac PAC Monical’s fundraiser! Simply bring the enclosed green flyer to the Manteno, Kankakee, or Bourbonnais Monica’s location on April 24 and 20% of your bill will be donated to Mac PAC. Picnic on the Lawn – Save the date! Parents are welcome to join their student(s) for a picnic on the lawn on Friday, May 25. Bring your own blanket/lawn chair! Hot lunch will not be served on this day. Parents are invited to bring lunch for yourself and your student. If you are not planning on attending, please send a sack lunch with your child. In order to be able to accommodate all students and families, we must ask that only immediate family members attend this event. Additional parking will be available in the MBVM Church parking lot. Specific times and details to follow.

Chocolate & Magazine Sales: We have approximately 200 boxes of chocolate remaining to sell. If you would like additional boxes of chocolate, you will have an extra week of selling time (due March 21.)    

 

School Mass Update: This Thursday, March 15th, 3rd and 4th grade will participate in reconciliation at 1pm. PreK3-2nd and 5th-6th grades will attend a prayer service at 2pm in the school gym. All families are welcome to join us!

 

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration: Save the date for the Bishop McNamara St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Saturday, March 17 at the Pub at Midtown in Manteno! The band “Folk Yeah” will provide the entertainment again this year. $10 tickets available at the door or online at bishopmac.com/stpatricksday. Must be age 21+ to attend.

Bishop McNamara Jazz Café: All are welcome to join us at our Jazz Café at the BMCS Kankakee Site Cafeteria this Thursday, April 12, from 6pm-8pm. Enjoy a jazz concert featuring the BMCS Jazz Band and many talented well-known local musicians. A $5 admission is suggested but not required. There will be raffles, refreshments, and more! All proceeds will benefit the McNamara band program.

Extreme Irish Spirit Day: The BMCS Bradley site will have an extreme Irish spirit day this Friday in exchange for $1. All proceeds got to ATI Physical Therapy. ATI has been providing resources and funding to children with physical impairments to enhance and sustain a better quality of life. Out-Of-Uniform Day: Tomorrow, Friday, April 13th we will have an out of uniform day for the Children's Network of Hospitals. All monies collected will go towards needed items for the hospitals - for example everything from diapers to heart monitors for infants. The cost to be out of uniform tomorrow, Friday, April 13th is $2.00. First hour teachers we ask that you please collect the money from your students and someone from the main office will be by to collect the money from you.

Jazz Café: All are welcome to join us for Jazz Café tonight from 6pm-8pm at the Kankakee site cafeteria.   Admission is $5 per person. 

Volleyball Meeting: There will be a mandatory volleyball meeting right after school on Wednesday, April 18th, for all people interested in playing volleyball next year.  Incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors will meet right after school and incoming freshman will be after the junior high dismissal.  Please meet in room 113.

Yearbook Order Forms: Yearbook order forms were sent home earlier this month.  Please submit your order form and payment by TOMORROW, March 28. 

No Extended Day: There will be no after-school extended day on Thursday, March 29th. 

Lost and Found: Lost and Found items are piling up, be sure to check the Lost and Found table in the cafeteria at lunch.   All items will be donated after this week.

Cheer Clinic: Save the dates! Cheer clinic for those interested in trying out for the 2018-2019 high school teams will be held on Friday, April 13th from 3pm-5:30pm. On this day, expectations and options for the two squads will be reviewed. All students currently in 8th-11th grade are encouraged to attend to see what Irish Cheer is all about!  Tryouts will then be held the week of April 16th. Days and times to be announced. Library Books: Many of you have overdue library books.  Please return them!

Easter Break: This Thursday (March 29) is early dismissal at 12 Noon which begins our Easter break.  Classes resume on Monday, April 9.

Grade 9 - 12 Kankakee

House Attendance Points:  This Friday is the final event for House attendance points. Come out Friday for the softball or baseball games, enjoy some free hot dogs and chips and stay for at least a half hour!! 

5th Hour Boys PE:  5th hour boys PE will head to Room 15/16 today because of the Blood Drive.

Seniors:  Are you a 2018 high school senior?   Are you looking for career after graduation?  Check out Shoup Manufacturing’s Senior Day. Shoup Manufacturing is a distributor and manufacturer of agricultural replacement parts, located in Kankakee, Illinois. They are looking for individuals to join their growing team. Interested candidates do not need prior agricultural experience. For additional information please see Mrs. McThenia in the Guidance Office.

Blood Drive;  If you are 16 and you signed up for the blood drive please remember to turn in your signed permission form in tomorrow to Ben Kuntz or Gillian McDermott.

Tomorrow's Schedule: We will be on a House Meeting Schedule tomorrow for High School. House meetings will be held from 8:00 to 8:45 We will then proceed with a shortened schedule for classes.

Donegal Meeting Today:  Donegal will be having a meeting today immediately after school in Sra Trevino’s room.

Waterford Meeting Today:  Waterford meeting after school today in the Celtic Knot.

Cupcake Wars:  In anticipation of cupcake wars Thursday night, you can wear your house shirt with uniform bottoms and shoes on Thursday! As always, if you need a new shirt, come see SRA Trevino.

Volleyball:  There will be a mandatory volleyball meeting right after school today, for all people interested in playing volleyball next year.  Incoming Sophomores Juniors and seniors will be right after school and Incoming Freshman will be after the junior high lets out.  Please meet in room 113.

Limerick Meeting: Limerick will have a house meeting in Ms. Sullivan’s room after school today to discuss cupcake wars. if you would like to be involved be sure to attend the meeting or see your house captains for details.

Band: Congratulations to the Bishop McNamara High School Symphonic Band and Jazz Band on their Division 1 rating at this past Saturday's Organizational State Contest.
