Happy Birthday to Mitchell Serpe!

 

“Move Your Feet to Give a Child a Seat”: Our students will help the Catholic Education Foundation bring awareness to the availability of scholarships and funding to ANY child who wishes to attend a Catholic school in the Diocese of Joliet. This Friday, October 19 in exchange for a minimum donation of $2.00 students will receive an out of uniform pass for the following Tues. Oct. 23rd. Please note: Friday Oct. 20 will NOT BE A SPIRIT WEAR DAY (or an out of uniform day) but a regular uniform day. Students must bring in a $2.00 donation in order to receive an out of uniform pass.

 

ABC Trivia Night: Team registration is open for the BMCS Athletic Booster Club Trivia Night on October 20th! It’s your last chance to rally your team of 10 and register at bishopmac.com/trivianight. Must be 21+ to attend.

 

Vision and Hearing Screenings: Vision and hearing screenings are scheduled for Monday, October 22. If you have not yet returned your form, we ask that please do so as soon as possible.

 

School Safety Meeting: Officer Garcia from the Bourbonnais Police Department and Mrs. Gernon will hold an informational meeting for parents to discuss school safety and drill procedures on Monday, October 22 at 6:30pm at the Bourbonnais Site. Please refer to the parent email sent home last week for details.

Physical Exams Due Prior to October 15th: A physical examination record, a complete immunization record, and an official birth certificate must be on file at the school for each student. Updated physicals are required for grade PreK-3, PreK-4, Kindergarten, and 6th grade. If proof of these requirements is not turned into the office PRIOR TO October 15, students will experience an attendance interruption. Move Your Feet to Give a Child a Seat: The classroom that brings in the most change will be awarded a MOVIE Day and Concession Stand from Mrs. Berg. The parade and winning class will be announced at 2:15pm in the gym. Following the parade, we will return to the gym for dancing and dismissal.

Trivia Night: Saturday, October 20 at 7pm at the Kankakee Site. Register your team of 10 for a night of fun!

Day of the Dead/All Saints Day: This week children can begin bringing in pictures (in or out of frames) of their loved ones who have passed away to be put on a table of Remembrance. We will say the names of loved ones during our morning announcements in celebration of The Day of the Dead/All Saints Day. Please put the person’s name and your child’s name on the back of the frame or photo so we can return all pictures to their rightful owner.

Uniform Guidelines - Students are now to wear their Regular Dress Uniforms. For details, please see the Student Parent Handbook.

Safety Drills - Students will participate in a bus evacuation drill and a tornado drill on Tuesday, October 2nd. They will also participate in a Hard Lock Down drill on Thursday, October 4th.

Student Council - Student Council speeches for grades 3-6 will be help at 1:15pm on Tuesday, October 2nd.

Band Practice - 4th grade band practices at 3:20pm at the Kankakee Site on Tuesday, October 2nd. 5th/6th grade band practices at 3:20pm at the Kankakee Site on Thursday, October 4th.

Basketball Game - The 6th grade girls basketball team has a home game at 4:30pm vs. King Middle School on Tuesday, October 2nd.

Mass - Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 3rd at 1:30pm, hosted by Father John Horan and the 5th graders.

First Grade Field Trip - The first graders have field trip to the One Room School House on Thursday, October 4th.

Spirit Wear - Don't forget, students can wear spirit wear shirts with their uniform bottoms on Fridays!

 

Bradley Site Announcements

Iowa Testing Grades 2-6: Iowa Testing is will began today. Parents can assist us by emphasizing the importance of these tests and encourage your student to put forth their best effort. Please make sure that your children have plenty of rest and come to school having had a good breakfast and ready to perform.

Band: 4th grade band on Tuesday, September 18th and Thursday, September 20th at 8am and at the Kankakee Site at 3:20pm. 5th/6th grade band on Thursday, September 20th at 3:20pm at the Kankakee Site.

Parent Workday: Our first Parent Workday is Tuesday, September 18th at 9am and will be Instagram Lived by the Marketing Team.

Mass: Our weekly mass is at 1:30pm on Wednesday, September 19th and will be hosted by 2nd grade.

Early Dismissal: Early dismissal for School Improvement Day on Friday, September 21st at 11:30am. Extended Day available. No Bus.

Sports - Congrats to the Junior High Cross Country boys who places 5th out of 27 teams at State and to Christian Provost who placed 11th and is now an all-state runner.  

Congratulations to the High School cross-country team on a great performance at the conference meet on Saturday.  Led by the 1-2 finish of Gavin Phillips  and Matthew Lampley, the freshman-sophomore boys team won the conference championship.  The varsity girls team placed third, with Eden Rainbolt, Madison Hamilton, and Jade Baker earning All-Conference honors by placing in the top 12.

Service Opportunity – The Limestone Library is hosting a Fall Festival on October 27, 2018 starting at 11:30am-1:30pm and they are looking for volunteers. There will be trunks for trunk or treat, games, prizes, food, pony rides, barrel train rides, face paint, etc. Volunteers would be needed from 10:30am-3:00pm. Bowling - It was another great afternoon for Irish bowlers yesterday! Connor Powers came in 5th, Marissa Pizur debuted in 4th place, Ryan Hardesty began his season in 3rd, Peter Nichols threw the highest game of the day, earning him a 2nd place finish, and Joe Pizur struck his way into 1st for the second week in a row! We're still looking for more members, so join us next Wednesday at Brookmont!

House Meeting - Limerick House is meeting to paint pumpkins and build the scarecrow after school today. Meet in Ms. Sullivans room.

Bowling - If you are interested in bowling today, please meet at Brookmont Bowl at 3:00pm.  The cost this week is $6 for 3 games and shoes.  Hope to see you there!

 

Scholarship Opportunity - Attention Senior students: The Soy Capital/Johnson Scholarship application is now available in the Guidance Office. Awards are based off of grade point average, scholastic aptitude, and financial need. To be eligible, a student must have earned an ACT score of at least 16 or an SAT score of 675. 

Applications are now available for the 2019 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, honoring students for making meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service.If you are current with your service hours and would like to apply for this Community Award and be eligible for scholarship opportunities, please see Mrs. McThenia in the Guidance office for an application.

 

College Visit - Attention Junior and Senior students: Illinois Wesleyan will be set up in the cafeteria during the lunch hours today. Ball State University will be set up in the Coffee Shop at 1:00 p.m. You will need a pass to attend the Ball state presentation from the Guidance Office.

Grand Canyon University located in Phoenix Arizona will be set up in the cafeteria on Thursday during the lunch periods.

Ceile Calendar - The Ceile calendar sales start today. You should have received your calendars in your first-hour class. If for some reason you do not receive your calendars, please see Mrs. Elliott in the Advancement Office. The first turn-in date is next Tuesday, October 23rd. Service - Last call for service hours for the first quarter. High school students needing to have service hours on their first quarter report cards need to submit those hours by Wednesday, October 17.

Scholastic Bowl - The scholastic bowl team had an excellent second meet against Fenton yesterday afternoon - with the varsity team tying in one match, and the junior varsity team winning both matches! Their next meet is next week against Riverside Brookfield High School

Bowling - Bowling season rolled out yesterday!  Connor Powers angled his way into a 3rd place finish.

Peter Nichols struck his way up to second place, and Joe Pizur knocked down the rest of the pack earning first place! Join us next Wednesday after school at 3:00 at Brookmont.  No skill necessary, just a willingness to have a good time!

Sports - After a close game yesterday, the Boys Irish Soccer season came to a close. Congratulations to the team on ending their outstanding season with 12 wins and 2 ties.
