Bishop McNamara

Off-Canvas

Bishop McNamara Catholic School thrives on parent and teacher involvement to help enrich our school community. When parents unite, our school becomes stronger. Our parent organization, known as Mac PAC (Parent Action Committee), welcomes involvement from all parents throughout the year. Whether you can volunteer for one hour, one day, or one committee - we are grateful!

According to the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory, students with involved parents are more likely to earn higher grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs; be promoted, pass their classes, and earn credits; attend school regularly; have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school; and graduate and go on to postsecondary education.

We look forward to working with you, our volunteers, to make our students' school-life experience the best ever!

Fundraising

Mac PAC does annual fundraising to help make school life more enjoyable for all members of the BMCS community. These funds help each of our principals with their Wish List – typically funding the “extras” that may not be considered necessities, but help make BMCS the very best learning environment it can be! This includes STEM resources, books, technology, site improvements, and more.

Mac PAC fundraisers are separate from a family’s fundability requirement, but we make it easy to participate in any or all of our fundraisers!

Mac PAC Meetings

Mac PAC Meetins are held every other month on a Wednesday at 7:00pm (Kankakee Site Cafeteria).

Mac PAC stands for Bishop McNamara Parent Action Committee.

Parents are encouraged to attend the meetings to stay informed of what Mac PAC is doing for the school, available Parent Ambassador opportunities (i.e. ways to earn service hours), and share suggestions and feedback.

If you are unable to attend a meeting, please join us on Facebook Live (we will live stream on the Mac PAC Facebook page).

We are aware of the audio issues experienced during this month’s meeting and will be working to solve those for next time.

Class Parent Packet Distribution and Overview

Class Parents will be reaching out to teachers and parents to introduce themselves (if they haven’t done so already).

Class parent informational packets were reviewed. If you are a Class Parent and were unable to attend the first meeting, please contact your Site VP to get your packet.

Class Parents will be receiving completed Teacher and Staff Favorites sheets via email very soon.  Other parents who are interested in the Favorites information can contact their Class Parent.

2019 Auction Class Baskets

Peggy Mayer, 36th Annual Dinner Chairperson, talked about the Annual Dinner Auction being held on Friday, November 8th and invited all to attend.

All parents are encouraged to consider donating items (big or small) to be auctioned off and/or to ask business owners to consider donating or purchasing an Ad space in the program.

Peggy explained that in place of class projects, each class will donate a themed basket for the silent auction.

All parents will receive an email soon explaining the theme for their child’s class basket along with a list of suggested items to donate to that basket.

The email will also include a listing of all other basket themes in case a family has something to donate that might fit another class basket theme.

Donations to the Class Baskets are not required, but anything a family can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Mac PAC Auction Donation

Mac PAC donates an item each year to the Dinner Auction, this year's donation will be an Xbox One Gaming System. Best Buy was very generous by deeply discounting the Xbox One System and threw in an additional controller.

The Best Buy Manager also shared that all BMCS Students receive a discount of 25% for all accessories they purchase in their local store.  Students should be prepared to show their Student ID or Athletic Pass. If you have any issues at checkout, just ask for the manager on duty.

Mac PAC Fundraisers

On September 4th, all school families received an email which included a link to the Mac PAC fundraiser informational packet. If you haven’t yet, please take some time to review. The fliers can also be found at https://www.bishopmac.com/student-life/macpac.

It’s so easy to participate in Mac PAC fundraisers, and nearly all of them cost you nothing extra!
